In Part III of our series, we’re highlighting BOTH cultural and nature activities and events, but ones that are fairly brand new to the South Shore and ones we haven’t highlighted in the past.
New Family-Friendly Things To Do On the South Shore In Spring and Summer 2025:
Quincy, MA: the city of Quincy (also known as the city of Presidents) is celebrating its 400th anniversary this year. Throughout the year, there will be a large number of diverse, family-friendly activities, so be sure to check the Quincy 400 website regularly for updates.
Quincy is also home to the Ruth Gordon Amphitheater — an outdoors performance space with a rich history. We’ve attended a few free family-friendly shows in the past, and had so much fun watching great performers al fresco, while enjoying food from the food trucks that are available at the events. Check out this season’s coming line-up!
Scituate, MA : we just checked out two spots in Scituate whose praises we haven’t sung in the place — the first was only recently opened to the public; the second has been open for quite some time. Mordecai Lincoln Property (a beautiful historic estate housed on the Gulph river) and Whitney Spur Rail Trail (1.5 mile flat walking and biking trail which connects to Wampatuck State Park.)
